Add Some Twinkle to Your Christmas cards!

Ok, it's confession time. I adore Christmas lights. The soft glow of the lights on the tree or on the mantle makes me so happy. So when Teri Anderson proposed the new String of Lights stamp set and the coordinating Christmas Lights Border Die, I was all in. Both the stamp set and die were designed to work just fine by themselves. And they are even better together. You can purchase the stamps and die separately. Or for the next several days you can save some money when you buy the stamp and die bundle.

I hope you'll check out this 1-minute intro video and get inspired by these projects from the TT designers!

Dana-Joy-TT-String-Of-Lights
When you are working with a classic image, such as Christmas lights, it often works well to keep things simple. On this card, Dana Joy used white cardstock, the stamps, and black ink. Then she used makers to add color to each stamped Christmas light. What an easy way to make a DELIGHTFUL card!

Emily-Leiphart_String-of-Lights_Things-Change_Mandala-Maker_1smaller

Oh my stars... this card by Emily Leiphard to STUNNING! She also used white cardstock, just the stamps, and black ink. But she added some amazing details such as embossing the card base with the Mandela Maker crafting dies. Here's a link to Emily's blog post where she shares more information about how she made it!

Technique-Tuesday-String-of-Lights-Kymona-Tracey

Are you wondering how Kymona Tracey made these tangled and overlapping strings of lights? She stamped the first string of lights and then did some masking. Kymona has some additional details and pictures on her blog!

3Dana-Kirby-Christmas-lights-die-18

The perfect Christmas package would not be complete without a gift tag. Dana Kirby stamped the String of Lights image off the edges of white cardstock tags and added sentiments for the same stamp set. Then she layered her stamped pieces onto some patterned paper to make these ADORABLE tags.

Hawkins_jill_bright_00

Want to make your Christmas lights glow? Jill Dewy Hawkins started with black cardstock and stamped a single string of Christmas lights. Then she used pencils to add color inside the lights and some subtle color around their edges to make them glow. You can visit Jill's blog for more details about how she made this card!

ChristmasPlanner_2_latishayoast

When Teri proposed the String of Lights stamp set, I didn't think about how it might work in a planner. I just imaged the image and sentiments on cards and tags. But look what Latisha Yoast did. She used them in her planner. Latisha shared more details on her blog!

Merry-And-Bright-Christmas-Lights-Card-Teri-A-Technique-Tuesday

I'm sure many of you noticed this colorful card in the intro video. Teri Anderson used the Christmas Lights die to make a stencil and to add the string of lights along the border of her card. She finished the card with a sentiment from the String of Lights stamp set. Here's a link to her blog post which includes more info plus another lovely Christmas lights card!

3Dana-Kirby-Christmas-lights-die-6

Wow... look at this DELIGHTFUL card by Dana Kirby. She used the Christmas Lights Border die to die cut out several colors of cardstock. Then she die cut out the white cardstock pieces and placed the colorful bulbs and black strings and socket pieces back into place. With all the different colors of bulbs, she could make a bunch of the same card by just switching where she puts the different colors of bulbs.

I hope you enjoyed seeing all these projects! Tena, our CFO, hasn't decided how long she's going to be offering the discount on the bundled String of Lights stamp set and the coordinating Christmas Lights Border Die so if you want them, get them while you can!

Got Planner Stamps? Make Cards with Them!

Hey, friends!

Have you seen Technique Tuesday's collection of planner stamps? One of the things I love about these little stamp sets is they are packed with all kinds of adorable images.

The images in these stamp sets look great in planners, but they work well on cards too! Take the recently released Planner Medical stamp set

Planner-Medical-Clear-Stamps-Technique-Tuesday-FBI used it to decorate this planner page as it's perfect for jotting down important medical things, like doctors' appointments, when to get pick up medication from the pharmacy and when you need to call the doctor.

Planner-Medical-Page-Teri-A-Technique-Tuesday

And Kymona Tracey used it in her planner too! Check out how she used it.

Techinque-Tuesday-Medical-Planner-Kymona-Tracey_2Her pages sure look great!

But the images in the set are also perfect for making "get well" cards, as well as cards for your favorite medical professionals. Check this out.

These two cards were so easy to make with the stamps!

I simply cut strips of cardstock and stamped several of the stamp set's images on them. Then I added a little bit of color to the images with markers.

I added the strips to a couple A2 cards. And I added a few strips of cardstock and patterned paper to the cards as well.

I finished off each card with a sentiment from the Chickadees 2.0 stamp set and a few enamel dots. Don't have any enamel dots? Try using gems or glitter glue instead.

How-to Make Your Own Two-Toned Butterfly Paper Clips

Hi, everyone!

Who doesn't love pretty butterflies?! I know I can't get enough butterflies in my life!

I've got a fun tutorial for you today. I'm going to show you today how to make your own two-toned butterfly paper clips with the Classy Butterflies paper crafting dies, shrink plastic and some basic craft supplies.

Make Your Own Butterfly Clips Tutorial | TechniqueTuesday.com

Let's get started!

Start by die-cutting a couple solid butterflies with the Classy Butterflies paper crafting dies from shrinkable plastic. (You can find shrink plastic at most big box craft stores.)

Make Your Own Butterfly Clips Tutorial | TechniqueTuesday.comDepending on your die-cutting machine, you may have to run the plastic through it a couple times to cut. Because of that, I like to hold my dies in place with sticky note tape so they will stay in place. Washi tape works well too.

Use your scissors to snip off the butterflies' antenna and the bottom of their bodies. Use a hole punch to poke a hole in one wing of each butterfly. It doesn't matter which wing!

Make Your Own Butterfly Clips Tutorial | TechniqueTuesday.comIf you are using a shrinkable plastic that has already been sanded, jump ahead to the next step. If you are using plastic that hasn't been sanded, rough up one side of your butterflies up with sandpaper.

Make Your Own Butterfly Clips Tutorial | TechniqueTuesday.comFlip your butterflies so the sanded side of them is facing up. Use colored pencils to scribble some color onto your butterflies. Start by putting a color like blue, pink or purple at the top. Then scribble some color on the bottom with a gold metallic pencil. (Not a fan of gold? Pick a color you desire!)

Using a heat gun, heat the shrink plastic until the butterfly is small. A word to the wise: As you heat the plastic, it will warp and bend. This is completely normal. Keep heating the plastic until it flattens out.

Make Your Own Butterfly Clips Tutorial | TechniqueTuesday.comOnce the plastic has cooled, adhere your butterflies to large paper clips with some thin floss or twine.

Make Your Own Butterfly Clips Tutorial | TechniqueTuesday.comAnd there you have it!

Make Your Own Butterfly Clips Tutorial | TechniqueTuesday.comThese clips look amazing in a planner and would also look great on scrapbook pages! Plus they would even make a fun gift to give to a co-worker to thank her for being fun to work with or to congratulate her on a job well done.

PS. Not a fan of butterflies? Technique Tuesday has lots of dies that will work for making clips like these. See all the stand alone dies here

And the Winner is... Plus More Coloring Inspiration

Hi, everyone!

The time has come to pick a winner for the Technique Tuesday stop on the day 2 of the The Daily Marker Coloring 30 Day Coloring Challenge Blog Hop.

First, we wanted to share a little more coloring inspiration from Design Team member Kymona Tracey.

Smiles Pineapple by Kymona Tracey for Technique TuesdayKymona turned a planner page into a canvas by stamping the pineapple from the Sweet Summertime stamp set onto it. Then she added some color to it with markers. Stamping and coloring in a planner is a great way to try new coloring techniques for cards and scrapbook pages.

Pearfect Pears Coloring by Kymona Tracey Kymona used pencils to add a lot of highlights and shading to these two pears that she stamped with the Funny Fruits stamp set. Look closely at her coloring and you'll see a variety of greens and yellows in her design, which went right onto a card.

In need of more coloring inspiration for the challenge? Don't forget to check out the videos on the Technique Tuesday website. You'll find lots of coloring videos that feature our Greenhouse Society stamp sets and matching dies

So let's get back to that blog hop prize! Who won the $25 gift certificate? Well, that's Jeannean Marshall! Congrats, Jeannean. Check your inbox for an email from Teri about your prize!

A big thanks goes out to everyone who stopped by during the blog hop and left such kind comments. We hope you'll stop by again! Our countdown to the July release of new stamps and dies begins on June 26th, plus we've got some fun posts planned between now and then.
