Turkey & Pie Cards... oh my!

Hi, everyone!

Lean in real close. I truly love spending Thanksgiving with my family and friends. There's nothing like spending the day doing nothing but catching up with each other. But I do have a second favorite part of the day. What's that you ask? It's the turkey and pie, of course! It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without these delicious foods!

Do you plan on working on some Fall-themed scrapbook pages and Thanksgiving-inspired cards? Meet the Turkey & Pie crafting dies. You can use this set of dies to make die-cut turkeys, pies, apples and pears for all your paper crafting and memory keeping projects. Imagine all the cute accents you can make with them! And here's the best part... they are calorie-free! If only Thanksgiving really was calorie-free too!

I hope you enjoyed Bev's quick video about the dies. And here are some cool projects created with the dies that I hope will inspire you too!

Wow! This card by Dana Joy is the perfect card to send a loved one that you are missing over the holidays. Her sweet scene looks just like an actual dinner table. And the sentiment stamped with Happy Thanksgiving stamp set is the perfect touch! Stop by Dana's blog to learn how you can make a card like her's.

GivingThanksFoodCard-teri

This card by Teri uses in the dies in a slightly different way. Teri left the outer frames of the die-cuts white and then added color to only the inner pieces. How did she add the color? Simple. She used markers. Like Dana, she too completed her card with a sentiment from the Happy Thanksgiving stamp set

Are you a Fresh Cut Studio auto-ship member? We shipped the Turkey & Pie crafting dies to you last week. We'll start shipping these new dies to everyone else this week!

We'd love to see what you are creating with these new dies. Share your projects with us on Facebook or Instagram so we can leave you a little love. Also be sure use the #TechniqueTuesday hashtag.

Fall Favorites Projects

Hi everyone... are you enjoying this autumn day? This is Bev and I have a confession. I have a love / hate relationship with fall. I love the colors and the cool, crisp air. But in Oregon, as the seasons change, we start having more gray, rainy days. I really miss being outside in the sunlight. So today we're going to focus on beautiful fall projects instead!

Let's start with the new Happy Thanksgiving stamp set. At first glance, this stamp set might look like it is for scrapbookers and pocket page memory keepers who are documenting their Thanksgiving memories. But our design team has made it clear that these stamps work well for cards, planner spreads, and home decor projects too. I hope you'll be inspired by the projects in the 1-minute intro video and from our design team!

HappyThanksgivingAmy-Kolling-adjusted

This card by Amy Kolling is simply GORGEOUS! She used markers to add color to each of the images in the Happy Thanksgiving stamp set. She fussy cut out the images and used dimensional foam to make her accents really pop. Here's a link to Amy's blog post with some additional details about how she made this card!

PlacecardsBlogPostStep5-teri-adjusted

Remember the place cards that were featured in the intro video? Good news... yesterday, Teri Anderson shared a tutorial here on our blog showing how she made these adorable place cards. They are easy to make and will look so fine on your Thanksgiving table. Here's the link!

Technique Tuesday-Happy Thanksgiving-Kymona Tracey

Who said the new Happy Thanksgiving stamps are only for scrapbook pages? We didn’t! We love how Kymona Tracey used these stamps to reserve some space in her planner where she will write her blessings on Thanksgiving day. You can learn more about Kymona's project on her blog!

Emily-Leiphart_Happy-Thanksgiving_4-adjusted

What a WONDERFUL card by Emily Leiphart! She stamped and fussy cut out each of the images from the Happy Thanksgiving stamp set. Then she stamped the sentiment on a piece of vellum and arranged the images she had cut out around the sentiment. What a creative way to give thanks. Here's a link to Emily's blog where she shares more details!

I hope you enjoyed seeing these projects and that you are inspired to make some fall and Thanksgiving projects of your own. If you are a member of the Memory Keepers Studio auto-ship program, the Happy Thanksgiving stamp set is on it's way to you. Not a member... you can order your Happy Thanksgiving stamps now!

Add a Handmade Touch to Your Thanksgiving Table

Hi, friends!

Teri here today. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays!

When I was right out of college, I moved to a town several hundred miles from my family. I made several wonderful friends, who would invite me to their homes every Thanksgiving. The day was always so fun and resulted in memories I will remember forever.

Something I always loved was how my friends would add a personal touch to their Thanksgiving table with decorations, like place cards.  The Thanksgiving-inspired images and words in the Happy Thanksgiving stamp set make it the perfect tool for making cards like these.

ThanksgivingPlacecards-teri
ThanksgivingPlacecards-teri

Start by cutting several 3 1/2" x 2" panels of white cardstock.

Stamp an image and a few words on each panel. You could use the same words and images on each panel or you could mix it and use a variety of images and sentiments. I went with a variety!

PlacecardsBlogPostStep1-teri
PlacecardsBlogPostStep2-teriUse markers or pencils to add a little color to the images. If you are using markers, be sure to use an ink that will not bleed when you add color to your stamped images. I like to use Memento ink pads when I color with alcohol-based markers but you may find an ink you prefer instead.

PlacecardsBlogPostStep3-teriNow you are going to want to create the base for your place cards. Cut several 4" x 4" panels of cardstock. I wanted my place cards to feel Fall'ish so I used kraft cardstock. Browns, oranges and, even, greens would work well too! Fold your panels in half. Adhere your stamped panels onto them.

PlacecardsBlogPostStep5-teriComplete your place cards by adding a little twine or ribbon to each one. Not glitzy enough for your tastes? Consider adding some gems or sequins to them as well.

Use your place cards on your Thanksgiving table. Place them on each dinner plate or set them randomly on the table in between the dishes of food.

I hope you have enjoyed today's tutorial. Looking for more handmade ideas for Thanksgiving? Check out this video from Bev. You'll learn about making a Gratitude Jar, a Thankful mini scrapbook and other Fall-themed projects!

How about some HEDGEHOG fun!

Oh for goodness sake... who knew hedgehog stamps and dies could be so much fun! This is Bev here today. I am blown away by all the projects our designers and guest contributors have been making with the new Henrietta the Hedgehog stamps and the matching hedgehog dies! Traditional brown hedgehogs? Check! Funny pink ones? Yep! Hedgehogs on a tote bag? Why not! I hope you are as inspired as I am by these projects!

Hedgehog-inspiration-NL-7-600

Wow... just wow! Rachel Alvarado made this adorable pop-up box card. Although Rachel used traditional colors for her hedgehog and trees, the whimsical red mushrooms add the perfect pop of color. Want to make your own pop-up box card? Rachel has a tutorial on her bog that includes all the measurements. Here's the link to Rachel's tutorial!

  Hedgehog-inspiration-IG1

This pink hedgehog card by Daniela Dobson made me smile! Daniela created her own background paper using the mushrooms, tree, and hedgehog stamps. Then she used a little flower stamp to fill in some of the open spaces. Her turquoise, pink, and green color scheme is delightful! On her blog Daniela included more details about the products she used to color her stamped images. I hope you'll hop over to Daniela's blog for all the details and to leave a comment for her!

Hedgehog-inspiration-IG10

Why limit your hedgehog projects to cards and paper crafts? Kymona Tracey sewed her own little bag and then stamped hedgehogs onto the fabric. What an adorable way to make a pencil pouch or small tote bag. Kymona shared some details about the ink that she used on her blog. Here's a link to Kymona's blog post!

Want to make some hedgehog projects of your own? If you are a member of the Animal House auto-ship program, we will be sending Henrietta to you starting tomorrow. Not a member? You can pre-order them now. We will start shipping the pre-orders on October 15th.
