Turkey & Pie Cards... oh my!

Hi, everyone!

Lean in real close. I truly love spending Thanksgiving with my family and friends. There's nothing like spending the day doing nothing but catching up with each other. But I do have a second favorite part of the day. What's that you ask? It's the turkey and pie, of course! It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without these delicious foods!

Do you plan on working on some Fall-themed scrapbook pages and Thanksgiving-inspired cards? Meet the Turkey & Pie crafting dies. You can use this set of dies to make die-cut turkeys, pies, apples and pears for all your paper crafting and memory keeping projects. Imagine all the cute accents you can make with them! And here's the best part... they are calorie-free! If only Thanksgiving really was calorie-free too!

I hope you enjoyed Bev's quick video about the dies. And here are some cool projects created with the dies that I hope will inspire you too!

Technique-Tuesday-Happy-Thanksgiving-

Wow! This card by Dana Joy is the perfect card to send a loved one that you are missing over the holidays. Her sweet scene looks just like an actual dinner table. And the sentiment stamped with Happy Thanksgiving stamp set is the perfect touch! Stop by Dana's blog to learn how you can make a card like her's.

GivingThanksFoodCard-teri

This card by Teri uses in the dies in a slightly different way. Teri left the outer frames of the die-cuts white and then added color to only the inner pieces. How did she add the color? Simple. She used markers. Like Dana, she too completed her card with a sentiment from the Happy Thanksgiving stamp set

Are you a Fresh Cut Studio auto-ship member? We shipped the Turkey & Pie crafting dies to you last week. We'll start shipping these new dies to everyone else this week!

We'd love to see what you are creating with these new dies. Share your projects with us on Facebook or Instagram so we can leave you a little love. Also be sure use the #TechniqueTuesday hashtag.

Create a Handmade Card in a Few Easy Steps

Hi, friends!

I feel like my home is in a constant state of renovation and redecoration lately. I'll replace one thing in the house and then find something else to do. It results in trips to the hardware store several times a week.

A recent trip there led me to the electrical department, where I was mesmerized by some of the light fixtures that mimicked the look of light bulbs hanging freely from the ceiling. I was so inspired that I came home and made this light bulb-inspired card!

HangingYouLightUpMyLifeCard-Teri-TechniqueTuesdayWant to make a card like it? It's easy. Just follow these simple steps.

Start by die-cutting several small and large light bulbs from white cardstock with the Bright Lights paper crafting dies. (If you are having a hard time getting the die to cut, consider using a metal adaptor plate with your die-cutting machine. I find this helpful when working with intricate dies.)

Lightsstep1Set the light bulbs on scratch paper. Use a couple gray pens to add some color to their necks like so.

Use a sponge dauber (or cosmetic sponge) to apply ink onto the glass portion of the smaller light bulbs.

Lightsstep2
Lightsstep3Repeat the last step. This time apply ink to the larger light bulbs.

Remove the center pieces from most of the light bulbs. Consider replacing the center pieces in some of the light bulbs with fresh pieces cut from white cardstock.

Lightsstep4

Lightsstep5Adhere your light bulbs to a card. (Not a cardmaker? Use them on a scrapbook page instead!) For added visual interest, arrange them so they are next to each other but are at different highs.

Make your light bulbs hang by drawing wires. This is easy! Take any black pen and then use either a ruler or a stamping block as a guide for drawing straight lines.

HangingYouLightUpMyLifeCardClose-Teri-TechniqueTuesdayComplete your card by adding a sentiment to the card. (The phrase I used is from the Light Bulb Moment stamp set, but you will find lots of great phrases to use instead from all the other Occasion and Sentiment stamp sets on our website! ) You'll also want to add a few strips of cardstock or patterned paper toward the bottom of the card. Give the card a hint of glitz by adding a few sequins or gems to it.

I hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial! I'd love to see what you are making with Technique Tuesday's stamps and dies! Leave a link to your latest project for me so I can check it out and leave a little love.

New Video: How to Create Accents with Alcohol Ink

Hi, friends!

Do you like beautiful butterflies and dragonflies? Then you are going our latest video!

Bev and I have been playing around with the Build a Dragonfly and Classy Butterflies dies. We figured out a fun way to use alcohol inks with glossy cardstock to make your own accents with the dies! These pretty accents are easy to make and will look amazing on your cards and scrapbook pages.

Watch Bev's video for the scoop!

(Can't see the video? Go here to watch it on our website!)

I was so inspired by our video that I made a few cards. These cards feature a slight variation on the butterflies shown in the video.

Here I used alcohol inks to simply add color to a solid butterfly cut from glossy cardstock.

Hello Inked Butterfly Card for Technique Tuesday

I used it on a card, but imagine using several butterflies like mine to decorate a scrapbook page or the cover of a journal. You could even cut and color several of them and then string them together to make a garland for a party or to decorate your craft space.

And here I used alcohol inks to add color to some intricate butterflies cut with the Classy Butterflies dies rather than solid ones.

Hello Friend Butterflies Card for Technique TuesdayDon't they look neat? Want your intricate butterflies to really stand out on your card or scrapbook page? Consider die-cutting some solid bodies from vellum or glitter paper and placing them behind the intricate butterflies.

I hope you too are inspired to play by this fun, new video! Please share your projects with us on Instagram or Facebook. Be sure to use the #TechniqueTuesday hashtag when you share your projects!
