June Sneak Peek Day 3

SneakPeeks-Day-3

Today is the last day of the June new release sneak peeks. And here is a preview of the happy creatures who will be joining the Animal House Collection in June. I've been having so much fun playing with these stamps and dies!

June-2019-Sneak-Peek-AH

So far I've made at least 8 projects featuring these critters and the punny sentiments that are included in the June stamp set. A little bit of one of my cards is featured in this sneak peek. Plus Bev included this project in her new release video.

Cute Crocodile Card Ideas by Norine Borys

Good morning all! Julie here, bringing you a couple of unbelievably cute crocodile cards by Norine Borys. She used the newest stamps and matching dies from the Animal House collection. Take it away Norine!

Tt-separator

Hi friends, it’s Norine back with you today, sharing a couple of cards made using the May Animal House stamp and die sets, called Alligators and Crocodiles. First up is a cute birthday card!

TT-May'19--2-1

To emphasize the numerical aspect of a birthday, I also used the By the Numbers crafting die. I began by stamping the Croco/Gator image onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock with Versafine Onyx black ink - an ink that is watercolor friendly, and then coloring the images with Arteza Real Brush watercolor markers, and blending the colors with a water brush. I used the coordinating Alligator & Crocodile dies to cut the crocodile and bird shapes and set them aside.

TT-May'19--2-2

Next, I die cut a panel of white cardstock with the By The Numbers die and adhered it to the front of a white cardstock card base. I love to use over-all die cuts like this to support the theme of my card as well as to provide some interest without being distracting, so that the images and sentiment can have the attention. I used Versamark ink to stamp a sentiment onto black cardstock, heat embossed with white embossing powder and cut out the sentiment block, then backed it with foam tape to pop it up on the card front.

TT-May'19--2-4

Finally, I adhered the die-cut crocodile accent, with his big toothy grin, to the card front, adding one of the die-cut flamingos to his back, safely away from those teeth! I’m kidding, these two are the best of friends! The addition of a few coordinating enamel dots (I never get tired of those!) completes the card!

TT-May'19--2-3

My second card is a fun “hey, how’ve you been?” card. I started by ink blending onto an A2 sized white cardstock card panel with a wave stencil and some blue Tim Holtz Distress ink.

TT-May'19--3-1

Following the lines at the top, I hand cut the stenciled portion about 1/4th of the way down. I used a piece of green patterned paper for the background and adhered it to a card base.

TT-May'19--3-4

Next, I stamped an alliga-dile (sorry, I don’t actually know the difference well enough to know which I made) onto Bristol Smooth card stock with Versafine ink, and colored again with water-based real brush markers before die cutting with the coordinating dies. Before adhering the water portion of the card panel to the card base, I tucked the alliga-dile under the edge to appear like he’s menacingly peeking out, although the little bird sitting on his back totally gives him away!

TT-May'19--3-2

I stamped the sentiment directly onto the stenciled cardstock with black ink. I found some blue glitter enamel dots in my stash that made me think of water bubbles so I used them and some yellow dots (to tie in with the yellow bird) to complete this card.

Thanks for visiting the blog and enjoy the rest of your day!

Alligator Card Ideas by Allison Arbour

Hello, Julie here! Today I'm happy to bring you a new blog post from Allison Arbour. She's showing us how she made this super cute card using the Alligators & Crocodiles Stamp Set, the matching Alligators & Crocodiles dies, and the Stars on the Border dies.

Tt-separator

Here's Allison's Alligator Card Tutorial!

Alligator-tutorial-May-Allison-A-Technique-Tuesday-1500

First, start by blending distress oxide inks in colours Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron on 2 separate pieces of white cardstock.

Alligator-tutorial-May-Allison-A-Technique-Tuesday-2500

Alligator-tutorial-May-Allison-A-Technique-Tuesday-4500

Use the Stars on the Border Die to cut through from each sheet. You will be using the negative cut from this die to create the bite marks but be sure to save the positive image and all the stars for another card or project.

Alligator-tutorial-May-Allison-A-Technique-Tuesday-3500

Trim the negative sheets (the bite marks) to the size you want to fit your card base.

Alligator-tutorial-May-Allison-A-Technique-Tuesday-5500

I positioned for placement then stamped my sentiment in black ink and heat embossed in clear.

Alligator-tutorial-May-Allison-A-Technique-Tuesday-6500

Using foam tape on the back of the bite mark sheets, I adhered them to the card base.

Alligator-tutorial-May-Allison-A-Technique-Tuesday-7500

I coloured the alligator in copics using colours YG23 and YG21. I then used the matching die to die cut out the alligator. The birds were coloured in copics and die cut as well, using the colours R22,R20,RV63,RV55,YR30,YR31,Y19

Foam tape was used on the back of the alligator and birds and adhered to the card base.

And voila! Here is Allison's finished card! I love that she used the negative space from the Stars on the Border die for this card. If you missed this month's blog hop, you probably also missed Allison's other card where she used the positive space (the star border). Here's a link to that alligator card on her blog. Finding new ways to make the "scraps" into something beautiful on their own is a great challenge that can bring out your creative side! What kinds of "scrap" projects have you made?

Cute Stamped Monkey Card Inspiration

Hi Technique Tuesday blog followers! Bev here today to introduce Natasha Kara to all of you. Two of the many things I like about Natasha are the sense of fun and the lovely colors she brings to all of her projects. Today she shows us how to make a super-cute monkey card. I hope her project inspires you to stamp some monkey cards of your own!

Tt-separator

Hello everybody!

Today I am here to share a cute stamped monkey card I made using the new Monkey Business stamp set, and the matching Monkey Business dies. I loved the idea of the monkeys getting up to mischief. Don't they just look like they are up to no good? 😂 When I read this sentiment all I could think about was using it on a card for a new baby.

Monkey-Business-Handmade-Card-Natasha-K-Technique-Tuesday-fxSo, to make this card, I chose an appropriate pattern paper for the background. I wasn't sure how many monkeys I would need, so I stamped a LOT of them, as well as a bunch of extra bananas, and coloured them in with copic markers. I also die cut a rectangle frame. I wanted the little guys to look like they were climbing all over the place and getting up to some monkey business.

Monkey-Business-Handmade-Card-step-out-Natasha-K-Technique-Tuesday-fx

Once I had all the monkeys and bananas coloured, I stamped and heat embossed my sentiment onto some black card stock with some bright white Wow embossing powder. All that was left to do was assemble the card. I played around with where the monkeys should go and how many to use. I then glued everything together onto a 4.25 X 5.5 card base.

Well, that's all from me for today. Thanks for joining me and I hope you are having a wonderful day wherever you are.

Monkey Business Stamp Set Project Idea by Norine Borys

Hi Technique Tuesday friends! Bev here with a happy blog post. Today I get to officially announce that Norine Borys is joining our design team. Norine has been making projects using Technique Tuesday products for a long time. So when I asked her to join our design team, I told her that she could choose which line of products she wanted to use. I thought she would choose the flowers from our Greenhouse Society Collection. But instead she choose the cute critters in the Animal House Collection. I can't wait to see how she uses the hand-drawn animal stamps and punny sentiments to make cards, tags, and party decor projects!

Tt-separator

Hello Technique Tuesday friends! It’s Norine Borys here with you today! I’d like to introduce myself, and tell you that I’m delighted to be here as a contributor to all the wonderful inspiration that the Technique Tuesday blog provides!

I’m a Canadian girl, living in the US, wife of 1 (lol), mom of 4 + spouses and SO’s, and best of all, Grand-mimi to 2 perfect little grandbabies! I love ALL types of arts and crafts and with the exception of paper quilling, have tried most of them at some point. This is my first month to work with the current TT release, and to post here and I hope, the beginning of something long and beautiful! I had fun this month with the Monkey Business stamps and matching dies. I meannn, who wouldn’t?

TT-MonkeyBusiness-Apr-3-1

I began by covering an A2 sized card panel of cardstock with the two swinging monkey images. I stamped with brown ink, then trimmed ⅛” off each side.

I stamped the 3rd monkey (Football Huddle Monkey as I’ve taken to calling him) image onto Neenah Solar White cardstock with alcohol friendly ink, and colored him with Copic markers before die cutting him out. I also die cut another 3 of the same shape and glued them in a stack to give the colored image some extra dimension.

TT-MonkeyBusiness-Apr-3-3

I used some stitched border dies to create interest on the top and bottom edges of a wide strip of brown cardstock on which I stamped and white heat embossed the sentiment. Then I wrapped the brown strip with thin jute string and layered that over the stamped background panel. Finally, I adhered the Copic-colored monkey stack, a few matching enamel dots and this card is complete. Pretty simple, but dang cute if you ask me!

TT-MonkeyBusiness-Apr-3-4

Thank you for visiting the blog today and have a wonderful day!

~Norine
