3 Fireworks Scrapbook Page Ideas For All Year Long
Hi everyone... this is Bev. I am excited and a little nervous to join you all on the Technique Tuesday and WOW! Embossing Powder collaboration blog hop. I stay pretty busy running Technique Tuesday so it has been awhile since I did projects for a blog hop. But I have to say the projects I've seen so far from the WOW! and Technique Tuesday designers are AMAZING. I hope you enjoy seeing all their projects and mine too. And I hope you enter for a chance to WIN the blog hop prizes!
Here in the USA, it is officially summertime. Soon fireworks stands will be popping up everywhere as we celebrate the start of our country. But if your household is like mine, fireworks aren't just for the Fourth of July. New Years at our house usually starts off with a bang and some sparkly pyrotechnics. Birthdays are another excuse to dig out some sparklers. Last week my next door neighbors set off some fireworks to celebrate their son's graduation. And when we go to Disney or other theme parks, we NEVER miss a chance to see the fireworks shows! So I guess that might explain why I accidentally made not 1, not 2, but 3 projects that are all about reasons to celebrate all year long with sparkly stars and colorful fireworks.
For my first project, I decided to make my own patterned paper. I used the fireworks stamps from Spectacular Memories stamp set, embossing ink, and the GORGEOUS Midnight Dream embossing powder on light blue cardstock to make the background on the left. Once I had finished heat embossing the background piece, I splattered some white and gold paint on it to give it even more visual interest.
I also made the background paper that went behind the photo. I started with plain, white cardstock. I splattered it with the same gold paint I used to make the left background paper along with some blue ink so that the left and right background papers were coordinating. To make the photo caption I stamped and embossed the words "Time to Sparkle" (from the Spectacular Memories stamp set) onto a label I cut out using the Essential Stitched Labels dies. The sparkly Midnight Dream embossing powder really pops even with the small letters in that sentiment!
To make the gold stars for both pages, I used Metallic Gold Rich Regular embossing powder and the Shooting Stars Dies. I popped them up with some foam adhesive squares. I love how luxurious these stars look!
Like I said before, I had only planned to make one project for this hop. But I had die cut out a bunch of Midnight Dream embossed stars that I ended up not using on my first project. It seemed like a waste of beautiful, sparkly blue stars so I made this layout about a trip to Disney World.
I stamped the words "Epic Adventure" (also from the Spectacular Memories stamp set) at the top of the journaling page and used my handy-dandy t-square to add lines. One of the things I really like about this stamp set is that the phrases work for photo captions, journaling prompts, and even as card sentiments.
I decided I needed some extra stars in red and white to compliment the picture and jazz up the journaling page. I used the Shooting Stars die along with Opaque Primary Cardinal Red and Neutral Ultra Shimmer embossing powder to make the extra stars. By the way, the white stars are so shimmery and lovely in real life! And the red ones have this lovely, almost suede look to them. The contrasting textures make the layout so much more interesting!
At that point, I was sure I was done making projects for this blog hop but then I remembered this picture. And to be honest, I had been playing around with the other colors of embossing powder that the WOW! team had sent to me. And well... I had fallen in love with the lovely, transparent look of the Primary Blue Topaz embossing powder.
I love this picture and I had tried to scrapbook it before. But with all the colors in the photo, I just couldn't find a way to let the picture be the star of the layout. I realized that the embossed blue topaz would help accent the blue in little Lillie's tutu. And although this is a scrapbook layout about Lillie's birthday party, the sentiment (also from the Spectacular Memories stamp set) could be used for any picture of someone laughing!
