Handmade Stamped Cards Inspired by Kindness Rocks

Hi everyone!

Teri here. Have you heard of the Kindness Rocks Project? This project is pretty simple. Paint some rocks with a message or a sweet design and randomly leave them for someone to find. They may be found by children or adults. And they can keep or hide the rocks again for someone else to find.

I walk most mornings in a number of my town's parks. And I've stumbled on quite a few of these rocks lately. They've been placed on trees, left on benches and even left next to walls. My favorite rock find yet? This inspiring rock I found on a bench on a particularly stressful morning. It sure made me smile.

Kindness Rock Photo by Teri for Technique Tuesday // TechniqueTuesday.comWhen I mentioned my rock finds to my friends, a number of them commented how they had found rocks or how their communities were big into the "rock painting" thing. Who knew that so many people were into it?!

That got me thinking about Technique Tuesday's Rock Family clear stamp set. I'm going to use it to make a few rock-inspired cards to send to my favorite rock finders and rock painters.

Rock-Family-Mom-Dad-Baby-Kid-Clear-Stamps-Technique-TuesdayJust like painting real rocks, you can be super creative when coloring in the rocks in this stamp set.

Tam created this fun birthday card by using non-traditional colors to color in the rocks.

Hope-Your-Birthday-Rocks-Handmade-Card-Punny-Technique-TuesdayI just love the stack with the two baby rocks. Can you imagine finding a stack of Kindness Rocks looking just like that? So fun!

I made a stamped card as well.

Rock-Bottom-Handmade-Card-Rocks-Teri-A-Technique-TuesdayI went more traditional by coloring in the rocks with grays and browns. Now that I've found a few Kindness Rocks, I'm inspired to make another card with these stamps and follow Tam's lead by using non-traditional colors!

New Video: Adding Intense Color with Water-Based Markers

Hey everyone! Julie here for the Technique Tuesday team. Today I'm sharing a new technique video showing how to add intense pops of color using water-based markers. This technique works very nicely on flowers like the Wild Clover stamp set or many of the nature-themed stamps in the Greenhouse Society collection.

What are your favorite images to color? We would love to hear from you over on our Facebook page. I like to color flowers, but I'm really enjoying adding color to the cute critters in the new Animal House Collection too!

An Owl-dorable Card and Heads Up about a Sale!

Since Oregon is in the direct path for the solar eclipse, it seems all our conversations around here lately turn to where we’re going to be and what we’re going to do! When I saw this over-the-moon card created by Technique Tuesday friend Jenn Brown, it made me think again of the upcoming event. The adorable owl from the Hi There Owl stamp set is silhouetted by a shimmering “shaker moon.”

You can create a moon by cutting a circle into your card panel and placing a transparency behind it. Add confetti or sequins, and adhere the panel to your card with foam tape. Roost your owl in a stand of birch trees cut with the Birch Borders DIY steel die.  Then add depth to the tree bark by using a marker to trace over the lines in the tree trunks. Finish off the card with an inspirational saying from the nature inspired Walk in the Woods stamp set or celestial My Sun & Moon stamp set.

This napping owl better wake up soon or she’ll miss a couple big events…the once-in-our-lifetime solar eclipse and the special one day only Eclipse Sale on Technique Tuesday’s website August 21st. Be sure you’re on our newsletter list to receive all the details.
