Story Card Sunday: Candy Cane Gifts

Hello, Technique Tuesday fans!

It's time for another installment in our Story Card Sunday series! And I'm excited to bring a holiday gift idea today.

Scs_58_candycanesThese Candy Cane Gift Cards are a great present to give to neighbors and special friends! And they are super easy to make with Technique Tuesday's clear stamps and steel dies.

Let me show you how you can make one.

Start by cutting a base card with our Story Card steel dies. You'll also want to cut one label with the Classic Label Card steel dies and three circles with the Circles steel dies.

Cut the label in half like so. Adhere it to the base card.

Stamp a circle from the Santa Says stamp set on the middle circle. Stamp an image on the smallest circle.

Stack the circles on top of each other. Use foam tape to hold them in place. Mount the circles to the base card.

Set a candy cane on the Story Card. You may want to use a little adhesive to hold it in place so it doesn't flop around.

Use your scissors (or a piercing tool) to pop a hole on each side of the candy cane.

Bring twine through the holes.

Tie a bow like so!

Sounds easy, right? If you make one of these gift cards, I'd love to see it. Just post your project on the Technique Tuesday Facebook page or share with it on Instagram. Be sure to use the #TechniqueTuesday hashtag.

Hope to see you again next week!

This Is with Daniela

Want to see a cool scrapbook page?

Check out this page Daniela Dobson made with our This Is - Memory Keepers Studio stamp set and This Tag - Fresh Cut Studio steel dies.

Weekly tradition by Daniela Dobson

Talk about fun! And look at that tag Daniela made. She die-cut the tag with the This Tag steel dies and then stamped words from the This Is stamp set on top. Looks so cool!

Weekly tradition close by Daniela DobsonAnd then check out those labels on the side of Daniela's pictures. So cool how she stamped words (also from the This Is stamp set) on them. Such a fun way to tell a real life story.

Nice work, Daniela!

A Card for Christmas

Hi everyone!

Have you started thinking about making your Christmas cards yet? Never fear. I've got a little Christmas card inspiration to get you going.

How about that circle element in the middle? It was so fun to make.

I cut a large circle with Technique Tuesday's Circles steel dies and then stamped the sentiment from the Christmas Wishes stamp set on top. I created the smaller circle by die-cutting a small circle, stamping the bell on top and then coloring it in with a white pencil.

The circle is affixed to a rectangle base card cut with the Story Card steel dies. I stamped the polka dot pattern with the Lots of Dots stamp set, which is probably one of my favorite Technique Tuesday stamp sets. I just love polka dots!

To finish my card, I added a few sequins to it. I feel like sequins are just a great way to add little sparkle to cards and scrapbook pages.

Story Card Sunday: This Is

Hello all!

It's Sunday, which means it is time for a brand new Story Card. Check this out.

Like many of the Story Cards we feature on Sundays, this one is pocket page-friendly. It would also look swell on a traditional scrapbook page or greeting card.

This Story Card was easy to make with Technique Tuesday's steel dies and clear stamps. Let me show you how you can make one like it.

Start by cutting a base card with Technique Tuesday's Story Card DIY Steel Dies. You'll also want to cut three tags and one arrow with the This Tag - Fresh Cut Studio steel dies.

Now set those aside. You are going to cut one more tag. Set the tag on a piece of cardstock and then set the "This Is" die in it. Use a little Washi tape or decorative tape to hold the dies in place as you run them through your die-cutting machine.

You'll get something that looks like this.

Cool, huh?

Stack all four tag dies together. And stamp a phrase with the This Is stamp set onto it.

Adhere the tags onto the base card. Mount the arrow below the tags. Stamp polka dots (also from the This Is stamp set) below and above the tag.

For a little extra pop, sponge a little ink on the edges of the Story Card.

Finish the card off by adding a gem, enamel dot or brad onto the tag.

And there you have it!

I hope you will join me again next week for the next installment of Story Card Sunday.

This Is with Teri

Hi everyone!

Teri here, and I'm excited to show you a thank you card I made the other day.

Seems like I'm always in need of thank you cards but most of the thank you cards I make are very feminine I often use pink and red on them so I specifically made this one with masculine colors - blue, orange and a soft blue.

I cut the two tags with Technique Tuesday's new This Tag - Fresh Cut Studio steel dies. It's such a fun set of dies! I love that you can use them as tags or as a decorative element like I did on my card.

I used a couple different Technique Tuesday clear stamp sets to create the sentiment: This Is - Memory Keepers Studio; Very Real and So Grateful. I think they look really nice mixed together.

Just Add a Cute Tag (... or Two or Three)

Wanting to give your holiday packages a homemade touch this year?

Well, friends, step right up. Jaclyn Miller has your back. Check out these sweet tags she made to tie onto Christmas gifts this year.

Totally cute, right?

Jaclyn created the base of her tags with the This Tag - Fresh Cut Studio steel dies. I just love how she used patterned paper for the tag bases and then added a little Baker's twine at the top of each tag.

She created the elements on top with the Santa Says stamp set.

Technique-Tuesday-Santa-Says-Clear-Stamps-Medium (1)I sure dig how Jaclyn mixed and matched the different stamps together. And I also like how she cut a circle out of the middle of some of the circles. You can do with that with a 1" circle punch or Technique Tuesday's Circles DIY Steel Dies

Story Card Sunday: Been There

Hello all!

Sunday means it is time for another Story Card. And this week's Story Card is a fun one!

Yep. This Story Card just might be a good one for your scrapbooks... wink

Let me show you how you can make one like it.

Start by cutting a base card with the Story Card steel dies. Cut a frame wth the Hi Banner Card dies. You'll also want to cut two flags with the flag die, which is also from the Hi Banner Card dies. Cut a star and circle with the star circle from the Cool Tab Card dies.

Scs_57_1Adhere the frame to the base card. Add the two flags like you see here.

Mount the star circle to the middle flag like so.

Scs_57_3Adhere the die-cut star to the middle of the circle. Stamp a sentiment with the Scrapbook It stamp set toward the top of the card. (Not a scrapbooker? Use a sentiment appropriate for a greeting card instead.)

Scs_57_4Poke a hole at the end of the top flag. Bring twine through it and around the Story Card like so.

Repeat this step with the bottom flag and a different color of twine or floss.

Scs_57_6Finish the Story Card off by adding an enamel dot or gem to the middle of the star.

I'll be back again next week with another Story Card for you. Hope to see you then.

PS. On a rainy afternoon over a year ago we were brainstorming new product ideas for pocket page scrapbookers. It wasn't going very well until we started playing with some leftover pieces of projects we had already rejected.

Somehow those scraps inspired us to create the Story Card Steel Die Collection. Since then the Story Card dies have been used to make 1000s of pocket pages, cards, traditional scrapbook pages, party decor, and more.

If you've been thinking about getting your first Story Card die or are considering adding to your collection, here's a little something to celebrate. Coupon code SCS52 gets you a 15% off discount on any of our Story Card steel dies. You can see them all right here. Hurry. The coupon code expires at midnight EST on Monday, Nov. 3rd.
