Story Card Sunday: Heart This Story

Hello all!

Can you possibly handle another installment of Story Card Sunday? I sure hope so because I've got a brand-new Story Card for you.

Check it out.

This Story Card looks complex, but it was easy to make with Technique Tuesday steel dies and stamps. So sit back and let me show you can make one like it.

Start by die-cutting two bases with the Story Card steel die and one word with the Say It - Love You steel die.

Set those aside and stamp one banner from the So Much Heart by Ali Edwards stamp set on cardstock. Cut it out with your scissors.

Turn one of your base cards into a Grid card. How do you do that? Simple. Stamp right on top of it with Technique Tuesday's Grid stamp

Now arrange the banner and die-cut word onto the Grid card like so. Add an embellishment like a pearl or gem to the banner. Snip off any excess.

Adhere the Grid card onto the second base card, letting some of the color be exposed. Flip the card over and use your scissors to snip away the excess.

The end result will be something like this.

Now that wasn't so hard, was it?

I'll be back next week with another installment in our Story Card Sunday blog series. Hope to see you then.

A Watercolor Card for Spring

Hello all!

Spring's here so I thought It would be fun to make something with one of my favorite nature-themed Technique Tuesday stamp sets. Let me introduce you to the One Of A Kind stamp set.

Pretty, huh?

And here's the card I made with it.

I think the hardest part was making that colorful background.

Here's how I did it:

* I die-cut a base from watercolor paper with Technique Tuesday's Story Card steel die.

* I scribbled some color with watercolor crayons onto a clear stamping block.

* I added a few drops of water to the color.

* Finally, I set the block onto the watercolor paper panel and pulled the color downward.

(If you are curious to how that process looked, check out this video on Instagram. Keep in mind it was shot with my cellphone so it's cellphone quality, but it will give you an idea of how I got the watercolor look.)

I finished the panel up by just stamping on top with black ink. By the way, the sentiment strip was created with Technique Tuesday's Label steel die. I just love that fun shape!

Fun stuff! See you again soon!

Ps. Looking to add a few watercolor crayons to your collection? Technique Tuesday has more than 40 different watercolor crayons available. They are just $1.99 a piece.

Story Card Sunday: Heart Smile

Boy, it feels like a great day to get creative and make a Story Card!

Care to join me? Here is the Story Card we are making this week.

Like all the Story Cards we feature on Story Card Sunday, this week's Story Card would work great in a pocket-style scrapbook page or on a traditional layout. It would also look good on a greeting card.

So let's make one.

Start by cutting a base from white cardstock with our Story Card steel die. You'll also want to cut a label panel from watercolor paper with our Classic Label steel die.

Now you are going to want to stamp on the base card with our Grid stamp. This stamp is designed to work perfectly with our Story Card die so you can make grid cards in all sorts of colors. Today, I'm going to stamp it with a light blue ink.

Use watercolor crayons to scribble little circles of color on the label panel. Use a water pen (or a wet paint brush) to spread the color around the panel until it's covered with lots of color. The more water you add, the more diluted the color will be.

After the color dries, you should have something like this.

Now set the watercolor panel onto the grid card. Stamp a sentiment in the opening. I used a phrase from Technique Tuesday's Be Happy stamp set.

Finish the Story Card off by adhering the watercolor panel to the grid panel. For extra dimension, use foam tape.

I'll be back again next Sunday with another Story Card! Hope to see you then.
