Check Out This Pretty Card by Ashley

Good morning, Technique Tuesday fans!

If you ask me, getting a pretty card in the mail always makes the day better. And this one from Ashley Harris is sure to make some lucky person's day a whole lot better.

TTAprilGreenhouseI sure love how Ashley used our Carnations - Greenhouse Society stamp set to make it.

She heat-embossed the flowers with white embossing powder on a Story Card base cut from watercolor paper. Then she colored it in with watercolors. Just love that watercolored look she ended up with.

Have you made anything with our Greenhouse Society stamp sets? We'd love to see it! Share it with us through the Technique Tuesday Facebook page or use post it on Instagram and use the  #TechniqueTuesday hashtag.

Memory Keeping with Linda

Hello, friends!

Stamping Tech Linda Barber here. If you follow my blog, you know that I’m a huge fan of circles. And honestly, who isn’t? Here at Technique Tuesday, circles are loved as well. The best part being that most of the circle stamps match standard punches. Nice!

The idea for this layout was stolen scraplifted off the April issue of Travel & Leisure.  They recently re-designed the magazine, and I’m not quite sure what to make of it yet. But I was totally in love with their main table of contents page.

Right? Really good. Totally my jam — simple, clean, focus on photos.

So I set to recreate it using photos of my favorite spot in the world, Kauai. The materials I used: With Flair and Flairific sets, watercolor crayons, brushes + water, black stamping ink, pop up dots.

My photos and journaling are printed directly onto matte photo paper (which I love). The photos are sized 2.75” x 3.75”.

To create the watercolor-y background for the flairs, I used a variety of red/pink/yellow watercolor crayons, and randomly applied patches to a piece of white cardstock. I tried a bunch of different combos, and used the ones that looked best against the photos (sorry I didn’t take a photo before I cut into the paper.)

I waited until the cardstock dried (okay, fine, I dried it with a heat gun), and then stamped the images with black ink. Then, I used a 1” punch to cut them out, and added some pop up dots to give the layout a little dimension. The word “wow” is from With Flair set and it’s stamped directly onto the photo.

There you go! Easy peasy!

Story Card Sunday: The Best

Hi everyone!

Teri here with a brand new Story Card to share with you.

Like all the Story Cards we feature on Story Card Sunday, this one is pocket page-friendly. It would also look swell on a traditional scrapbook page or greeting card.

Let me show you how to make one like it.

We are going to start by doing some die-cutting.

Cut one base with our Story Card DIY Steel Dies. You'll also want to cut one frame and frame center with our Cool Tab Card DIY Steel Dies, as well as three star circles and two small stars.

Adhere the frame and frame center to the base card like so.

Mount the circles onto the Story Card like this. Adhere small stars into two of them.

Finish the card off by placing a button on top of one of the circles and stamping a sentiment. (I used words from Technique Tuesday's Everything Pocket Page stamp set.)

And here's a trick for getting a shadow with the sentiment like you see on my Story Card. Stamp the words once and then immediately stamp them a second time without reinking the stamp.

Fun stuff, huh?

I'll be back again next with a new Story Card to share with you. In the meantime, you can find all our Story Card Sunday posts by going here.

The Sneaky TT Poster Strikes Again!

This just in. It looks like our Technique Tuesday poster has once again been giving sneak peeks again of yet-to-be-released TT products.

Oh brother. We spied this picture over on Instagram.

And here's what she said, "Stopped by Technique Tuesday HQ today. Left with a brand new stamp set TT is releasing on National Scrapbook Day (5/3). (Cough. Cough. Sneak peek. Cough.) Can't wait to ink it up."

Gosh, that sneaky, sneaky poster! It's sure hard keeping a secret around here with her around.

Be sure to watch the Technique Tuesday newsletter for the "official" details about this stamp set. And keep an eye on our Facebook page for more sneak peeks. We have no doubt our sneaky poster will strike again.

Spotted and Admired: One Colorful Card by Jaclyn

Ever see a card or scrapbook page so cool that you secretly wished you made it? Yeah, me too. Happens all the time.

It happened just the other day in fact when I spotted this colorful card on Stamping Tech Jaclyn Miller's blog.

Isn't it fun?

I just love how Jaclyn used a mostly black and white color scheme and then added a pop of color to it with the tape strips and the red heart.

By the way, she created the sentiment with our Straight Talk - Hello DIY Steel Dies. She created the heart by die-cutting a heart with our Nested Hearts DIY Steel Dies and then coating it with Glossy Accents.

Nice work, Jaclyn!

Story Card Sunday: Remember This

Hello again!

Teri here, and I'm back with the latest installment in our Story Card Sunday series. This is this week's Story Card.

This pocket page-friendly journaling card is super easy to make. Let me show you how you can make one like it.

Start by die-cutting three base cards with our Story Card DIY Steel Dies. Two should be cut from cardstock and one should be cut from patterned paper. You'll also want to cut one tab with the tab die from the Memo Pad Card DIY Steel Dies.

Now stamp the Grid stamp onto one of the cardstock base stamps. I prefer a subtle grid pattern so I used a light blue ink to stamp my stamp.

Cut off part of the patterned paper base card. Arrange what's left as well as the grid card to look like so. Snip off the excess.

Add the tab die to the Story Card. You want it to look like this.

Finish the Story Card off by stamping a sentiment onto the tab. I used a phrase from Technique Tuesday's Everything Pocket Page stamp set. You'll also want to add a couple enamel dots or gems.

And that's a wrap! I hope you like this week's Story Card. Tune in next Sunday to see a brand new one.
