Story Card Sunday: This Day Was

Hello all!

Teri here, and I'm back with a new Story Card.

This week's Story Card is an especially good one for pocket-style and traditional scrapbooking pages. Please don't feel left out if you are a card maker. You can easily use different words on this Story Card to make it more card-friendly.

Let me show you how you can make one just like it.

You are going to need Technique Tuesday's Story Card and Straight Talk - Happy DIY Steel Dies.

Place the dies on a piece of cardstock like so. Be sure to use a little decorative tape (or painter's tape) to hold them in place.

Run the dies through your die-cutting machine and you'll get something like this. Use your scissors to make your line longer.

You should end up with something like this.

Cut two more happy words from two additional pieces of cardstock. Be sure to move the words when you cut them so they aren't all at the same height when you cut. You'll see why in a minute.

Once you've cut those words, you should end up with something like this.

Cool, huh?

Now set the words aside and cut a Story Card base from white cardstock.

Adhere the die-cut words on top.

Stamp some additional words and an arrow onto the card. (I used stamps from This Day Was by Ali Edwards and Darn Good Day stamp sets.)

Finish the Story Card off with a few sequins or gems.

Your card should look something like this when you are finished.

I hope you will join me again next weekend for another Story Card Sunday!

Make a Flag with Best Banners by Ali Edwards

Here's a quick trick for the new Best Banners by Ali Edwards stamp set: Make a flag (or two or three) with it!

All you need to do is stamp a banner. Cut it out with your scissors. Use a paper piercer (or push pin) to poke two holes through through the banner. Slide a toothpick through the holes. The result: A cutie pie flag like these guys!

Best Banners by Ali Edwards, our newest Studio AE stamp set, our starts shipping on Feb. 10th.  We release a new Studio AE stamp set every month. We only make a limited number - enough for people who are members of Studio AE plus a few extras.

Treats for Valentine's Day

Hi all! Stamping Tech Jaclyn Miller here today!

Need a fresh idea for how to treat your Valentine this year? Here's an easy way to say I love you! These pouches are so easy to make, and you can fill them with whatever thin goodies you can find. I've filled mine with gum and a gift card.

Here's what you'll need:

First, die cut two sets of Story Cards and stitch them together. Only stitch around 3 sides, leaving the top open. Because the wax paper is slick, you will need to set your machine to a larger stitch and possibly hand turn it to help it get started.

Fill your pouch with goodies. I punched out some hearts and put those inside too for some fun confetti. Then, stitch the top closed.

Die cut and stamp your sentiments, then glue them together to create a sleeve. Slide the sleeve on and you're done.

These are bound to be a joy for your friends and family to receive, and so pretty too!

A "Cool" Idea from Tanis

From Tanis Giesbrecht, here is a fun twist on Valentine cards: Put a snowman on them!

Check out these "cute as can be" cards.

Tanis created this series of Valentine cards with our Good to Snow stamp set. Each one features a snowman from the set.

And here's the really fun part: She used sentiments from the stamp set inside her card.

That's clever! Who would have thought to use the set to make Valentine cards?! Way to go, Tanis!

A Fun Treat for Valentine's Day from Laura

Looking for a fun gift to make for your sweetie for Valentine's Day?

Look no further than this sweet and clever decorated treat box from Laura O'Donnell.

Take it away, Laura!

"This was so easy to make I almost thought I shouldn't send it in!

I used a 4" x 2" round tin that I got at Michaels. These are available at the big box craft stores all year round. I topped it with a doily, then added hearts cut with the Nested Hearts dies from glitter paper, a banner cut from glitter paper and the sentiment cut from black cardstock with the Say It - Love You die. Done!"
Thanks, Laura! Such a fun idea!
