Mask Butterflies with Teri

Hi everyone!

Have you had a chance to check out Technique Tuesday's new stamps yet?

Technique Tuesday just unveiled their 2012 Winter Release. From animals and flower stamps to ones from Ali Edwards, there's a whole lot of cool new images to check out.

Two of my new favorite new stamp sets are Take Flight and Bring on the Sun by Ali Edwards.

In my world, you can't go wrong with butterflies. There's just something so peaceful about them. And you also can't go wrong with Ali's cool mix of typography and handwriting in her designs. I just love it!

I love these sets so much that I just had to make a card with them. Just had to, you know. (Wink!)

I created the line of butterflies by masking.

Masking is such a fun technique to use when stamping. And here's how you can do it yourself with the Take Flight stamp set.

Start by stamping the butterfly on a sticky note. Sticky notes are the best paper to use for this because they are very thin and also super affordable.

Use your scissors to cut the butterfly. This will give you a mask to work with.

Stamp your image once on your card or background paper.

Then set the mask directly on top of it and stamp the butterfly again. This time, slightly move the butterfly over so it touches only a small part of the mask.

You'll get something that looks like this.

Repeat the last step over and over again until you get a line of pretty butterflies.

When you are finished, color the butterflies in like I did on my card.

I used markers, but you may want to consider using watercolor crayons or pencils.

See you again soon!

Thank you Terri. Great tutorial. I will have to give this a try. Those butterflies look so good.

Did I write Terri instead of Teri --- sorry

Oooh, Teri, that's so pretty! I was looking at that butterfly, but I'm not very good at designing with sideways flying ones.....you make it look amazing!!

Love this look!! This card is so beautiful Teri! I'm pretty sure I need this set!
