A Decorative Centerpiece from Judie

I usually put the walnuts in a large hurricane glass container and use it for a centerpiece in my home.

While walking through the field picking up walnuts, I decided to go in a different direction this year for decoration.

I wanted a more natural, warm feel for this year's centerpiece so I decided to get some duck cloth and make a bowl for my walnuts.

Walnut Basket 1

I LOVE the Give Thanks by Ali Edwards stamp set so I used that set to stamp the words on my bowl.

I also wanted to stamp a big pumpkin on my bowl, but I didn’t have one so I used the parenthesis in my retired but still loved Functuation stamp set from Technique Tuesday. I changed the shape by stretching it out when putting it on the clear block.

I also used the retired Loopy Labels stamp set on my bowl. I wanted them to stand out a little more so I stamped the labels on a light tan color, and then I stamped the words from the Give Thanks. I stamped some of the small pumpkins on the duck cloth and cut them out and sprayed them with Mist.

I adhered everything on the bowl with Zip Dry

When finished, I stitched up my bowl. I created a round bottom and then stitched it to the fabric panel I stamped and adhered images to. I sewed the seam up, turned the bowl right side out and filled it with walnuts.

I really like the "down home" feel this bowl will give my house this year.

A "Monster" Fun Card From Kris

Kris here, and I have a technique to share using Techique Tuesday's Technique Tiles!

I went back to basics, and I did some simple stamping of a line image stamp from the Monsters Ink set stamp set. I colored it with our Watercolor Crayons

Start by stamping an image on tile using StazOn ink.

Color image using watercolor crayons.

Blend crayon with paintbrush and water.

Apply dimension glaze to the monster image to really make it stand out.

Glossy Accents work well for this, too!

Make a card and put the monster on it. Add a few smaller tiles to finish off the card.

Here is a close up of the monster.

Have a "monster" good day!

Treat Bags for the Christmas

Can you believe it? December is only eight days away.

Oh, good golly! I really have to get working on the Christmas gifts I still want to make this year.

I want to make for Christmas treat bags inspired by these ones by Stamping Tech Ashley Harris.

So cute! I think these would be a fun gift for my neighbors.

Ashley used Technique Tuesday's Good Cheer by Ali Edwards set to stamp the sentiment on the kraft cardstock strips she put at the top of her treat bags.

I love how she added the lace, ribbon and pearls below the sentiments. It just gives her treat bags a fun touch!

She used treat bags that already had polka dots printed on them.

But an easy way to recreate the look would be to start with blank bags and then stamp polka dots from the Passion for Polka stamp set on them.

I make a mean batch of Snickerdoodles so I plan on filling the goodie bags I make for my neighbors with them.

If you aren't in the mood to bake, you may want to consider putting candy in the bags you make.

Here's to the holidays (and that last minute push for getting ready)!

Setting the Thanksgiving Table

Looking for a way to dress up your Thanksgiving table?

How about making some placecards?

To make ones like mine, you'll need:

* The Autumn Afternoons by Ali Edwards stamp set

* Any alphabet stamp set. I used Technique Tuesday's Start Me Up Addison set.

* Scissors, ink, adhesive, cardstock, jute and gems

Then, you just have to get to work.

Start by stamping the large leaf from Autumn Afternoons on cardstock with red, brown and orange inks.

Cut the leaves out with your scissors. Some folks call this fussy cutting. I just call it cutting.

Wad the leaves up and then flatten them out. This will give them the appearance of texture.

Stamp the names of your dinner guests on small panels of kraft cardstock.

Tie jute around each name panel. Adhere panels and leaves to small cards cut from cardstock. Finish each placecard with a gem.

The end result: Lovely placecards for your Thanksgiving table!

We Can See Clearly Now...

Joy Rutherford is a clearly a clever stamper.

She has come up with a neat way to use our Eye Chart stamps: Blur them!

Joy, sister of Technique Tuesday's Shelley, used that trick to create this fun card with our I Love You - Eye Chart stamp for a friend who was having cataract surgery.

She blurred the eye chart by stamping it three times.

Such a fun technique to try with the Eye Chart stamps.

Did you know you we have three of them available? In addition to the I Love You - Eye Chart stamp, we have the Congratulations - Eye Chart and Birthday - Eye Chart stamps.

You can find them in our online store and at select retailers.
