Stamped Backgrounds with Watercolor Crayons

Don't Miss Laura's Color Challenge

We love a good challenge, and Stamping Tech Laura O’Donnell has a great one up her sleeve.

Laura is hosting a Color Challenge for World-Wide Stamping Weekends on twopeasinabucket.com.

Laura's challenge calls for making something with purple, lavender, red, light blue, and a neutral color on it. (Need to see a swatch of those colors? Hit Laura’s challenge post to see one.)

“These colors are not specific to any particular ink manufacturer,” Laura said. “You can use what you've got and just try to get as close as you can.”

The only catch is the project has to be stamped.

Laura took the challenge herself and came up with this fun card that uses one of our Periwinkle watercolor crayons with the Harlequin stamp from our Harlequin Harmony set.

To make the background, she colored the white paper with the crayon. She then used water to spread the color.

While the paint was wet, she pressed the uninked Harlequin Harmony stamp into it to pick some off the color and make the reverse pattern.

She finished her design off by heat embossing the Eiffel Tower with black embossing powder and the sentiment frame with red embossing powder.

What a great idea!

Laura’s challenge runs through June 19th.

Be sure to check it out. She will give away a Technique Tuesday stamp set and Technique Tiles to one of the participants.
