Man Week: A Card for a Hip Guy

Hello again!

It's the last day of Man Week! We hope you've been inspired by the masculine cards and tips we've shared this week.

We've got one last card to share with you today from Laura O'Donnell.

Just Sayin Thanks by Laura O'DonnellLaura kept it clean and graphic with her design by avoiding adding embellishments or bulk to it. It's a card that gets right to the point by telling the recipient thanks!

That clipboard? While it looks real, Laura made it entirely from paper with Technique Tuesday's Clipboard steel dies. The words were stamped with the Rock Star stamp set.

One of the things I really love about this card is the hip feel to it. Laura used a patterned paper for the background that is packed with a lot of icons that would appeal to a teen-ager, college-aged guy or even a hipster!

And look close at the clipboard too. While it's flat as can be, it looks like it uses real wood. That's because Laura used a wood patterned paper to make it.

Bravo, Laura! Bravo!

Speaking of cards without a lot of bulk and get right to the point, here's another one from the Technique Tuesday Inspiration Vault.

Amazing Dad card from TechniqueTuesday.comThe designer splattered diluted ink onto the card with a paint brush and then stamped the saying right on top. Such a cool look and so easy! Imagine doing something like this, but changing out the ink colors to your guy's favorite colors.

We hope you've enjoyed our week of masculine cards! If you haven't had a chance to check out the Guy Gallery, please do. We've got lots more great ideas for guy cards (and a few scrapbook pages too).

Man Week: Custom Papers for Masculine Cards

Hi everyone!

We sure hope you've been enjoying Man Week!

The fun is not quite over. We've got a couple more great ideas for masculine cards to share with you today and on Friday.

Tobi Crawford is up today with a fun card that features a custom DIY patterned paper. Check this out.

Father's Day card by Tobi Crawford for TechniqueTuesday.comCreating your own custom patterned paper is a great idea for making masculine cards! You can pick a manly color scheme, such as Tobi did by using green, blue and dark green together.

And you can pick design icons that aren't too girly! Tobi made her patterned paper by picking a couple stamps from the Smiles Borders clear stamp set and then stamping them repeatedly on a piece of cardstock. The end result? A cool patterned paper stamped by her!

Stars and triangles aren't the only the designs you can make cool DIY patterned papers for guy cards with. For example, take the tie from Technique Tuesday's Mister Man stamp set. Stamp it over and over and you'll get an equally cool patterned paper.

You're Cool Man card from TechniqueTuesday.comFor added visual interest, stamp the tie on dark cardstock and then add a little color with a white pencil. Take it over the top by doodling some designs inside each tie.

Got a favorite fella you want to make a card for? We've got even more ideas in the Guy Gallery for cards for dads, brothers, boyfriends and more.

Man Week: Cute Cards for Guys

Hello again, Technique Tuesday fans!

Welcome to another day of masculine card making inspiration!

You may not think of guy cards as cute, but we've got Linda Barber here today to show you otherwise. Check out this cute birthday card she made.

Smile It's Your Day card by Linda Barber for TechniqueTuesday.com

"Cards for guys are usually about sports/plaid/dark. I wanted to create a bright colored happy card that's good for any celebration. I used a neutral gray background to tone it down a little, because let's not get too crazy. Don't want my kids telling me, "that's too cute", which I've been told before. Like there's something wrong with cute... "

By toning her card down slightly with the neutral background and sticking with masculine color scheme for the balloons (orange, yellow, blue, green and white), Linda definitely achieved a fun card worthy of being given to a guy! I imagine this card would be a great one to give to a young boy or teen-ager.

By the way, Linda created the balloons with the Smirthday stamp set, while the words came from the Smirthday and Say It - Smile stamp sets.

Speaking of cute cards, here's an adorable one from the past by Birgit Edblom. This is such a cute baby card!

Welcome Baby Boy card by Birgit Edblom for TechniqueTuesday.comAnd while the onesie and bird stamps from the Bundle of Joy stamp set scream cute, Birgit made her card very "boy'ish" with her usage of blue ink to color the onesie in. And that dark colored hanger the onesie is hung on helps maintain the masculine feel of this card.

Have you had a chance to check out the Guy Gallery yet? We've got even more great ideas for cards (and a few scrapbook pages too) for dads, sons, grandfathers, brothers, boyfriends and more.

Man Week: A Rough and Rugged Card for a Special Guy

Welcome back to Man Week!

We are featuring great cards for guys (and tips for making them) all week long here on the Technique Tuesday Blog. And today we've got a fun one from Daniela Dobson.

Father's Day card by Daniela Dobson for TechniqueTuesday.comSo fun!

Here are a few words from Daniela about her card. Take it away, Daniela!

"I added gesso to the patterned paper with a palette knife. Once it was dry I embossed it with the star embossing folder from another manufacturer. The star die-cut (cut with the Nested Stars steel dies) fit perfectly in the center of the embossed star. I die cut three stars (also with the Nested Stars dies) that I stapled together and added a button to the center. I added the jute bow under the star."

And her sentiment is sure fun! Daniela die-cut the large label with Technique Tuesday's Label die and the happy word with the Say It - Happy steel dies. The additional words were stamped with the Say It - Happy stamp set

One of the cool things about Daniela's card is the rough and natural feel about it. Jute really helps with that. It's a great embellishment to use when making masculine cards, while ribbon tends to work better on feminine cards.

Speaking of jute, here is another card from the Technique Tuesday Inspiration Vault. This card uses jute and burlap!

Best Brother card for TechniqueTuesday.comBurlap is also a great way to add texture to a card that you want to keep on the manly side.

Man Week: A GR-8 Card for Dad!

Hi all!

Do you struggle with making cards for guys?

The Technique Tuesday Creative Team wants to help! We are playing "The Man Card" this week and are featuring cards made for just for guys!

The cards you see are sure to thrill your favorite fella! Whether it's the colors or the embellishments used or the words on them, the cards you see this week have a masculine flair to them.

Sit back, relax and get ready to be inspired! You are in for a whole lot of fun!

So let's get this party started with a "GR-8" card for Dad by Jaclyn Miller.

Take it away, Jaclyn!

A card by Jaclyn Miller for TechniqueTuesday.com"Don't have a die that says what you want? No problem! Take a look at what you've got and see if you can piece something together by cutting it apart. For this Father's Day project, I didn't have a die that said "DAD", but I did have the Straight Talk - Day steel die. I simply cut out two copies of the word day; then cut apart the "D" and "A" from one, and the "D" from the other to form the word "DAD" on my card. The possibilities for new words are endless."

Such a cool idea, Jaclyn!

By the way, how about that cool license plate that Jaclyn included on her card? She die-cut it with the License Plate steel dies and then stamped onto it with the Rock Star stamp set

While Jaclyn's card is for Dad, imagine making a license plate like she did and putting it on a card for car obsessed young boy or teen-ager.

Speaking of teen-agers, here's a neat masculine card from the Technique Tuesday Inspiration Vault that would sure be fun to give a sports loving teen-ager.

Technique-Tuesday-Football-Birthday-Card-LargeFootball just goes hand in hand with teen-age boys!

Craving some more masculine card and scrapbook inspiration? Be sure to check out the Guy Gallery on the Technique Tuesday website.

And be sure to stop by again on Tuesday. Man Week continues with a fun card for Dad by Daniela Dobson!
