Teri here today with a card for a friend!
One of my top goals in 2018 is to send more handmade cards to my friends. There's nothing quite sending a card in the mail to let a friend know you care about them!
Scene making is one of my favorite techniques when it comes to stamping. I love pairing together different critters. There's something about making them look like they are having fun hanging out together that really makes me smile!
I rounded out my scene by adding a bale of hay and a fence stamped and cut with the Funny Farm stamps and dies. The Funny Farm products are great because they work well with all the farm animal stamps Technique Tuesday has released in recent months. Scenes with cows, horses, pigs and, now, birds can all be easily paired with them.
To make the card's stamped images stand out, I colored them in with markers. You'll notice I added a few dots to the duck. I think the dots just give him a little extra personality! I also added a few puffy heart stickers and some enamel dots in my design to help draw attention to the animals.
Can we talk about the sentiment for a minute? I used the new Hay Neighbor stamp set for the sentiment on the label, which was cut with the Jam Jar Labels dies. Since I wanted this card to have a barn feel, I rolled up some jute and strategically placed it behind the label, letting a little bit peek out. Thinking about doing something like that on a card? Be sure to use foam tape to adhere it to your card. That will help keep the label from warping.
I'd love to hear from you! When is the last time you sent a friend a handmade card? I'd love to see it! Share a link to your card in the comments so I can take a peek!
PS. Did you know you can get the Hay Neighbor stamp set for free this month? Animal House members will get it for free with their June shipment! Not a member yet? Join the club in June 2018 and you'll get it for free with your first auto-shipment. Learn more about the benefits of joining here.
