A Shiny New Graduation Card + Masking with Foil

Hi all!

Graduation season is upon us, and I found myself digging in my stash to look for a few graduation cards. Turns out that I didn't have any so I sat down the other day and made this card.

Reach for the Stars card from TechniqueTuesday.comWhether your special someone is graduating from high school, college or junior high, there's just something about sending them a handmade card to celebrate the big day!

Reach for the Stars card from TechniqueTuesday.comThe foiled star element on the card was fun to make! I used a masking technique to pull off the look. Here's how I did it.

I die-cut a medium star with Technique Tuesday's Nested Stars steel dies from a sticky note. I set the star on a cardstock base (cut with the Clipboard steel dies).

DIY Masking with Foil from TechniqueTuesday.com Then I got messy! Messy is good... wink! I squirted liquid white glue around the edges of the star and used my finger to brush and even it out.

DIY Masking with Foil from TechniqueTuesday.com Now it's a little hard to see here, but I removed the mask and ended up with this surface here. You can somewhat see the outline of the star. I let it dry until it was just barely tacky. (Note for those of you trying this at home: It will dry fast!)

DIY Masking with Foil from TechniqueTuesday.com Then I took some craft foil (ask your favorite retailer if they have this) and set it onto the glue and burnished the foil to it. I could have used a bone folder, but I just went into my kitchen and grabbed a sturdy spoon. It worked just fine!

I removed the foil and ended up with something like this!

DIY Masking with Foil from TechniqueTuesday.com Pretty fun, huh?!

By the way, you might be wondering about the phrase I used on my card! It's from Technique Tuesday's My Sun & Moon clear stamp set.

So many good phrases in it!

Story Card Sunday: Here Now

Hello!

Sunday means it is time for another installment of Story Card Sunday.

Here Now Story Card from TechniqueTuesday.com

Like many of the Story Cards we feature, this one would fit in a pocket-style scrapbook page. It would also work well on a traditional scrapbook page. Not a memory keeper? You could use this on a greeting card as well. Just change out the sentiment.

Let me show you how to make one like it with clear stamps and steel dies from TechniqueTuesday.com.

Start by cutting a base card with the Story Card steel dies. You'll also want to cut three labels with the Folding Banners dies and one tag with the This Tag dies.

A Story Card Sunday tutorial from TechniqueTuesday.comTake one of the labels. Set the arrow from the This Tag dies on top of it.

A Story Card Sunday tutorial from TechniqueTuesday.comRun the label and arrow through your die-cutting machine. You'll end up with something like this.

A Story Card Sunday tutorial from TechniqueTuesday.comPlace the tag on the base card. Adhere a solid label under the arrow label. Adhere the stacked labels onto the Story Card.

A Story Card Sunday tutorial from TechniqueTuesday.comSet the third label onto your work table. Place a couple stamps from the Here & There stamp set onto the label. Use your clear stamping block to pick them up.

A Story Card Sunday tutorial from TechniqueTuesday.comInk up your stamps and stamp onto the label.

A Story Card Sunday tutorial from TechniqueTuesday.comAdhere the stamped label onto your Story Card. Poke a hole at the top of the tag. Poke a second hold at the bottom of it.

A Story Card Sunday tutorial from TechniqueTuesday.comRun a line of twine through the holes and around the back of the Story Card.

A Story Card Sunday tutorial from TechniqueTuesday.comTie a bow at the front of the Story Card. Trim the excess twine.

A Story Card Sunday tutorial from TechniqueTuesday.comWith that, this week's Story Card is a wrap. Tune in next Sunday to see another Story Card Sunday tutorial. Hope to see you then!

Say It - Remember with Teri

Hi everyone!

Ever have days when you just want to let a friend know everything is going to be OK and that you've got her back? A handmade encouragement card is a great way to do that.

Check out this card I made with that very idea in mind.

Remember Circles Card from TechniqueTuesday.comI think my favorite part about this card is the sentiment. I created it by die-cutting the "Remember" word and mat with the Say It - Remember steel dies. Then I adhered them onto a label cut with Technique Tuesday's Label die

And I'll tell you a secret: Other than the gems, that label is super flat. But I think the mat under the word just really helps give the sentiment dimension.

The words under the label were stamped with TT's The Best Things stamp set. All the words and elements in the stamp set work with the Say It - Remember steel dies.

The Best Things clear stamp set from TechniqueTuesday.comKinda cool, huh?

Remember Circles Card from TechniqueTuesday.comI created the scene on the card by mixing together circles cut with the Circles steel dies and hearts cut with the Nested Hearts steel dies.

I added polka dots to some of the hearts and circles with the help of the Lots of Dots stamp set. I just used a dark pink ink to stamp the patterns onto them. Love that tone on tone look!

Adhere the hexagon to the base card. Place the solid label pieces to the base card. Leave a little space between the two pieces.

A Story Card Sunday tutorial from TechniqueTuesday.comAdhere the marquee label on top. If you'd like a little extra dimension, use foam tape to make the label pop.

A Story Card Sunday tutorial from TechniqueTuesday.comAdd the half circles to the Story Card. Add gems above and below the label.

And there you have it! Tune in next week to learn how to make another Story Card

Get it? Hee! OK. Seriously. Check out this soft and pretty card from Lisa Adametz.

Ranunculus card by Lisa Adametz for TechniqueTuesday.com

Ooh la la! The soft colors and all those sweet touches make for such a pretty card.

And I love how Lisa stamped the flowers from Ranunculus - Greenhouse Society stamp set with two different ink colors, rather than stamping the flowers with a dark color of ink and then coloring them in. So pretty!

Ranunculus - Greenhouse Society stamp set from TechniqueTuesday.comWell done, Lisa!
