Story Card Sunday: Mod Hugs

Hello again!

It's Story Card Sunday, and I have a brand new pocket page-friendly Story Card to share with you. 2_scs_21_hugs_teri
You like?

Like many of the Story Cards we share here on the Technique Tuesday blog, this guy isn't just meant for pocket page scrapboooks. It would also look great on traditional scrapbook page or card!

Let me show you how to make one just like it.

Start by cutting two bases from cardstock with our Story Card DIY Steel Die. The bases should be two different colors. You'll see why in a minute.

Scs_21_1

Now set those bases aside and pull out our Say It - Hugs steel die.

Die-cut the word from dark cardstock.

Scs_21_2

By the way, you'll notice all our Say It word steel dies have dots in them like you see here. That's because sometimes you might need a little help getting the word out of the die. Simply use a pushpin, stickpin or piercing tool to pop it out.

Scs_21_3

Set that word aside and grab the white Story Card base. Stamp the grid pattern on the base with Technique Tuesday's Grid stamp.

Scs_21_4

Now grab the mat die from the Say It - Hugs steel die. Set it on the card. Use a piece of removable tape (or Washi or Painter's tape) to hold it in place.

Scs_21_5

Run it through your die-cutting machine. Remove the die. You should have a grid card with an open space.

Now set the second base card down. Set the grid card on top. Don't glue the cards together quite yet. Instead set the word in the open space. Adhere the word in place.

Scs_21_7

Remove the grid card. Place foam adhesive under it and then adhere it permanently onto the red card.

Scs_21_6
Finish the card off by scribbling some color in some of the grid squares randomly with markers, pencils, paint or crayons.

I'll be back again next week with another installment in the Story Card Sunday blog series. Hope to see you then!

A Pretty Card by Daniela

Here's a sweet card to brighten your day, courtesy of Daniela Dobson!

Hello friend by Daniela Dobson

Daniela created the lovely blue tag with our Olde World Squares stamp set. I love how she stamped so many different elements from the stamp set on it. I count three. Do you see them all?

Daniela created the sentiment with our Say It - Hello stamp set and Say It - Hello steel die. Love how they look together!

Story Card Sunday: Simply Amazing

Woot! Woot!

Sunday means it is time for another installment in our Story Card Sunday blog series.

2_scs_20_SimplyAmazing_edited-1

Today's Story Card pays tribute to the Olympics since so many us are watching the events unfold. Anyone have a favorite moment so far? It's the medal ceremonies for me. The tears pretty much start flowing the second they start.

Like many of the cards we feature on Story Card Sunday, this one would look great in a pocket-style scrapbook page. It'd also work well on a traditional page. If you are a card maker, you could use different words on it to make it more card-friendly.

So let's get started.

Scs_20_1

Start by cutting a base from white cardstock with our Story Card DIY Steel Dies.Scs_20_2

Now you are going to cut five circles from yellow, black, green, blue and red cardstocks. You are going to need the smallest two circles from our Circles steel dies and a small amount of decorative tape (or Painter's tape).

Set the circles down onto the first piece of cardstock like so. Place a piece of tape on top to hold the dies in place.

Scs_20_3

Run the dies through your die-cutting machine. Repeat this process to make five rings that look like this.

Scs_20_4

Now use your scissors to snip an opening in each ring.

Scs_20_5

Arrange the rings onto your base card, connecting them as you go.

Scs_20_6

Finish the Story Card off with a stamped sentiment. I used words from Technique Tuesday's College Ruled and Look At This stamp sets.

Scs_20_7

One of the neat things about the Look At This set is that it includes arrows you can add to your sentiment like I did. I like being able to add them because you can make the arrow go the direction you want it to go.

Your completed card should look something like this.

2_scs_20_SimplyAmazing_edited-1

Ta-da!

By the way, you can kick this card up a notch by adding a layer of Glossy Accents or glitter glue over the rings. It will make them really stand out!

I'll be back next week with another Story Card. Hope to see you then!
